Of course I would be remiss if I didn't mention the golfing opportunities. Being able to golf 365 days a year poses some interesting questions you may not have though of before. For instance, do I want to walk or ride today? Should I play the course by the beach or the play the palm tree-lined one? TPA rated or 9-hole executive? Or somewhere in-between? Ohh, the choices! And how can I concentrate with such beautiful surroundings?
Have you ever seen the Gulf of Mexico? If you enjoy beaches, there is none better for me than Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota where the sands are 99% pure white quartz. If you like fishing, opportunities for large grouper or even a sailfish loom in waters that, at times, are more like a big lake than an open sea. And talk about beautiful! The numerous islands and waterways will leave you breathless as you canoe, kayak, or even jet-ski. If it floats, get out there! You won't be sorry.
With all of this at my fingertips, even I like to "get away" once in a while. Do you know, we are less that 2 hours of easy driving to the attractions of Orlando! Sanibel Island and Clearwater are also under 2 hours and Marco Island plus the shopping and nightlife of Miami and South Beach are all under 3 hours away. We have cruise ports nearby, the Florida Keys, several international airports, well .... you get the picture!
